Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

If you are tired of struggling with substance abuse and ready to try sobriety, then we can assist you in doing that. There are many different treatment plans to help you. IOP is one of the options to choose from.
If you are not familiar with IOP’s do not let it bother you. We have taken the time to include helpful information in this article to help you understand what IOP’s are a little better. Please take the time to read the literature to decide if IOP’s are the best option for you.

What Is An IOP?

IOP stands for intensive outpatient program. Intensive Outpatient treatment allows you to sleep in the comfort of your own bed at night and attend in-house therapy sessions during the day.
Outpatient is different than inpatient treatment because inpatient treatment plans require the patient to spend night and day full time at the treatment facility for up to 3 months while in therapy.

What Occurs During The IOP Treatment Process?

Several different types of substance abuse support are offered during the IOP treatment process.
First and foremost, you will receive one on one therapy time with a counselor who focuses on addiction. Together you both can come up with healthier coping skills to combat your addiction after the cause of the addiction has been identified.
Your participation in group therapy sessions and possibly some holistic healing treatment methods such as outdoors activities and yoga can help in your recovery journey. These types of treatments will allow you to treat your whole body both mind and soul as you move forward to obtain your sobriety goals.

Would an IOP Plan Work For Me

An Intensive Outpatient Program may or may not be right for you. Would you be able to live at home during your treatment? If you think that you could handle at home treatment, then an IOP may just be the plan for you.
An IOP can raise the chances of you relapsing if your home life is not stable. Outpatient treatment is not for everyone. However, if you do have a strong support system an IOP could be a great option.
The question you have to ask yourself is if you can handle the freedom that an IOP offers by going through treatment in a at home setting. Would you be able to handle the withdrawal symptoms without the help from a professional therapist’s constant guidance?
If you have any doubts about your ability to handle your at home recovery plan, then you should seek the opinion of a professional counselor.
